Perimeter Cares – Our Nonprofit

According to a recent article by the Patch, “Georgia is home to 523,470 hungry children, including 44,400 in Gwinnett County.” Because of this, a large number of children rely on school lunches for regular meals. However, school lunch debt can become a burden over time. This can prevent children from getting a full meal or making them feel embarrassed in the lunch room line. To relieve this burden, Perimeter Roofing stepped in by founding Perimeter Cares.

Perimeter Cares

In 2018, Perimeter Roofing founded Perimeter Cares to help relieve lunch debt for schools all over the state of Georgia. They started this nonprofit with the goal of paying off the school lunch debt for every school in GA. Now, less than two years since they were founded, they have paid off the school lunch debt of 84 schools! Most of the schools they have visited are central to the Gwinnett and Hall County areas. These include Green Acres Elementary, Flint Hill Elementary, and Sharp Creek Elementary. However, they plan to extend their reach farther across Georgia in the coming years.

You know Perimeter Cares by their signature giant check donations as shown in the photos. Contractors with Perimeter Roofing deliver the checks and meet the children in person. This way, the elementary school teachers, principals, and office workers know that an organization in their community wants to help. Beyond paying off school lunch debt, Perimeter Cares also has other outreach programs to help local children. Recently, they held a book bag drive to collect supplies for elementary school children. These included food items and school supplies so the children could be prepared for school. Also, around Christmas every year, they donate gifts so that local families have Christmas presents.

To fund their outreach, Perimeter Cares relies on donations from individuals and corporations as well as business donations from Perimeter Roofing. In the last six months, Macy’s and Superior Distribution have donated multiple times to help fund the school lunch debt relief efforts. Also, the local community has partnered with Perimeter Cares continually since 2018.

Community Impact

Because Perimeter Cares has done so much good for the local community in the short two years since their founding, they have captured the attention of multiple news stations. In fact, to learn the true mission of Perimeter Cares, read the news reports from The Covington News, The Citizen, and CBS 46. Read the first hand accounts of how Perimeter Cares has impacted the lives of local children through their numerous outreach programs. Also, visit their Facebook page to learn about all the schools they’ve helped and see photos of the happy school administrators.
